Philadelphia, PA - Marywood University fell to Gwynedd Mercy University 5-0 in the 2015 CSAC Women's Tennis Championship Saturday afternoon at the Legacy Tennis Club in Philadelphia.  The win clinched the Griffins (17-1) their 7th CSAC title and an appearance in this coming spring's NCAA Division III National Tournament, while the Pacers picked up their 7th runner-up finish.

The Griffins jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles action.  A day after a dramatic and exhausting 5-4 win over #2 Immaculata, the third seeded Pacers fell behind early when they dropped #1 and #3 doubles by scores of 8-0.  At #2 doubles, Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela fell to Natalie Danze and Taylor Michener, 8-4.

Singles play wrapped up quickly as well, with Katie Garthaus defeating Doud 6-0, 6-2 at #2 singles and Danze controlling Kobela, 6-0, 6-1.

The Griffins will have to wait until the end of the spring season to see who they face in the NCAA Division III tournament.

Marywood, under the direction of first-year Head Coach Aimee Wentzell, the 2015 CSAC Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, finish with an 11-5 overall mark.
