Pacers Move to 7-0 in CSAC with Shutout of Neumann

Clarks Summit, PA - Marywood University cruised to their seventh straight win, all in Colonial States Athletic Conference action, as the Pacers blanked Neumann University 9-0 in women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at Birchwood Tennis Club in Clarks Summit.

The Pacers now stand at 8-1 overall and are 7-0 in league play, one conference victory away from clinching their eighth consecutive post-season berth.  The Knights fell to 2-8 (0-6 CSAC) with the loss.

Marywood gained an early 3-0 lead with easy victories in doubles action.  Avery McCall and Devon Underwood continued their hot streak with a 8-2 win in the top doubles flight, while Marywood's #2 team of Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela and the Pacers #3 duo of Nicole Sinclair and Devin Zombek both won by scores of 8-1.

In singles action, McCall bounced back from a tough loss yesterday to win 7-5, 6-2 over Sarah Schroeder in the top singles flight.  Doud was a 6-4, 1-6, 11-9 three-set winner over Talene Brinker at #2 singles, and Underwood picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win at #3 singles.  Sinclair and Shannon Spencer also won 6-0, 6-0 for the Pacers at #5 and #6 singles, respectively, while Kobela was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Angaline Salvucci at #4 singles.

Marywood is back on the courts tomorrow when they visit Wilkes University in Kingston.  The Pacers will then complete their match against King's College, which was suspended due to darkness on September 25 with Marywood leading the Monarchs, 4-1.
