Volleyball Trounces Notre Dame for Second Win

Scranton, PA - Marywood University put a stop to Notre Dame of Maryland University's five-game winning streak with a three-set victory Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball. The Pacers won their second match of the season by scores of 25-13, 25-16, 25-22.

Meghan Weeks posted a season-best 12 kills. With two errors, she posted an attack percentage of .345. Mallorie Deschaine had an all-around effort with 10 kills, three aces, 10 digs and a solo block.

Danielle DeIulio registered 28 assists, her highest for a three-set match this season. Amanda Khozouri led the team defensively with 14 digs.

Marywood (2-13, 2-2 CSAC) went on a nine-point run in the first set on the serves of Shayna Finn. Deschaine was unstoppable with six kills in the first. Deschaine's serves sparked the team in the second set. On her first serves, the Pacers went on a six-point run. When she went to the line later, with the score knotted at 15 apiece, Marywood broke open for eight straight points. The third set was the closest; however, the Gators struggled to take a commanding lead. The fearless Gators were in arm's length at 23-21. Maddie Lavery and Weeks recorded kills to close out the Pacers' second win in three matches.

Notre Dame's Cleaya Antes secured 20 digs. 

Marywood shot .266 for the match, its second-highest of the season. The Gators committed 20 errors for a .054 attack percentage.

Marywood travels to Radnor, Pa. Tuesday to play in the CSAC Tri-Match with Cabrini College and Rosemont College.
