Scranton, PA - Marywood University narrowly escaped an upset bid by fifth-seeded Keystone College as the #4 Pacers advanced to Wednesday night's Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinal round with a 2-1 win over the Giants Monday evening in Scranton.  Marywood got goals from Brianna Bruster and Julie Youngman in the win.

Marywood (9-6-4) will face #2 Gwynedd Mercy University at a time to be determined on Wednesday.  The Pacers fell to the Griffins 1-0 in Gwynedd Valley during the regular season.  Keystone rebounded from a 7-0 defeat to Marywood just over a week ago and ended their strongest season to date with a 7-9-1 overall record and the College's first ever berth into the CSAC post-season tournament.

Knowing it would be tougher to beat a healthier Keystone squad the second time around, a ball off the crossbar from Amanda Allikmaa in the early moments of the game would have put the Pacers up, but the Giants regrouped and held Marywood to just six first half shots while taking three of their own.

Keystone had their own first half golden opportunity slip away as a breakaway attempt in the final seconds of the opening stanza sailed high over the crossbar.

Knotted 0-0 in the second half, Marywood picked up the pressure on the Keystone defense.  Just under 13 minutes in, Brianna Bruster took a feed from Allison Warner and sent a high shot to the far corner of the goal to put the Pacers up 1-0.

Taking advantage of a misplayed clearance, Keystone tied the game at one in the 71st minute as Brittany Sugalski picked up the loss ball and chipped Aly Moyer for the equalizer.

Just under 10 minutes later, Youngman found the game winner.  Playing the ball down the left flank, Youngman cut inside to her right and sent a beautiful bending ball into the side-post netting to put Marywood up 2-1.

Some strong possession in the Marywood attacking third by Youngman, Warner, Allikmaa and Ashley Kruchinsky over the final five minutes limited Keystone's looks the rest of the way.

Marywood held a 24-4 advantage in shots (10-3 on goal) and a 3-0 advantage in corners.  Senior Katelyn Coon closed out an outstanding career for the Giants with a game-high eight saves while Moyer stopped two for Marywood in the win.
