Scranton, PA – Marywood University men's basketball saw a halftime lead slip away in a 84-69 loss to King's College in the Cross County Challenge Sunday. The University of Scranton took the championship in the de facto title game against Wilkes University in the Challenge's other tilt. The Royals have either shared or won the title outright for the past five seasons.

Kendall Harris was named to the All-Tournament Team, following a nine-point effort against the Monarchs. King's freshman Jake Barber was the game's other representative to the All-Tournament Team.

Scranton's Kevin Doolan was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player with a combined 43 points. The Royals' Brendan Boken joined Willkes' Steve Stravinski and Marcus Robinson on the All-Tournament Team.

Connor Callejas led the Pacers with 18 points on 6 of 10 shooting. Cameron Dean joined him in double figures with 10 points. James Curley was the team's top rebounder with six boards in addition to seven points.

Wilkes made more than half of its shots with a 53.6 percent mark. Marywood made 40.6 percent of its attempts. Both the rebound (36-32) and turnovers committed (13-15) margins went in the Colonels favor slightly. Marywood shot 7 for 25 from beyond the arc for the second straight game.

King's (5-2) Barber came off the bench to post 24 points to cement his all-tournament nod. John Fazzini provided 22 points and went 10 for 11 from the charity stripe.
Marywood (3-3) led at the break by a 34-33 score but found little momentum in the second half. Thanks to a 68 percent shooting performance in the second half, King's outscored the Pacers 51-35.

The Pacers led by as many as nine points twice in the first half after jumping to an early 19-10 lead. A seven-point run was capped by a Tip Swartz 3-pointer to put the Pacers ahead by 34-27. King's scratched that out with six points in the final two minutes to go into the break trailing by one.

Marywood kept control with a six-point stretch on a Shane Letthand jumper for its largest lead of the second half at 42-37 with 16:42. An 18-2 run by the Monarchs turned the tides in their favor, and the Pacers struggled to keep the game in double digits the rest of the way. The closest Marywood came again was after a Kendall Farrell long-range bucket to slim the deficit to seven (60-53) with 7:05 left.

Prior to this weekend, Marywood had not lost in the Cross County Challenge since 2012-13, sharing the championship with the Royals each of the past two years.
The Pacers have a pair of away Colonial States Athletic Conference tilts this week when it travels to Centenary College Wednesday and Cabrini College Saturday.
