Gwynedd Valley, PA - Second-seed Gwynedd Mercy University got three goals from Brittany Mitchell and three assists from Meghan Petroski as the Griffins eliminated #4 Marywood University from the CSAC post-season tournament with a 5-1 home win Wednesday evening.

The Griffins (12-3-3) advance to Saturday's CSAC title game and travel to #1 Cabrini College, a 2-0 winner over #6 Rosemont College in the other semifinal Wednesday evening.

For Marywood (9-7-4), the Pacers will await word on a possible ECAC South Region tournament bid.  Bids will be announced Monday afternoon after the NCAA tournament field is announced.

Gwynedd exploded for four first half goals, the first of which came just 1:18 into today's semifinal as Ariety Fellenz headed home a cross from Megan Gifford to put the Griffins up 1-0 early.  Nearly 20 minutes later, Petroski connected with Mitchell for the first of two consecutive goals involving the duo as Mitchell one-timed a centering pass from Petroski on the endline.

Fourteen minutes later, Petroski found Mitchell in almost the exact same fashion as Gwynedd built a 3-0 lead.

Marywood got on the board in the 41st minute as Julie Youngman intercepted a pass outside the Griffin 18 yard box, ran a give-and-go with Allison Warner, and beat Jess Tadley for her eighth goal of the year.

Looking like Marywood could head into the break down only two, the Griffins got a huge insurance goal just before the end of the half as a misplayed ball got through the Marywood back line, found the foot of Petroski who slid it to Jessica Fath for a 4-1 GMU lead.

Midway through the second half, Mitchell found the back of the net for a third time as she picked up a loose ball in the box and scored unassisted to close out the scoring.

Gwynedd out-shot Marywood 18-7. Aly Moyer had seven saves for the Pacers while Tadley finished the game with five.
