Men's Soccer Comes Short to Cavaliers in CSAC Championship

Radnor, PA - Top seeded Cabrini College captured the 2015 CSAC men's soccer title with a 2-1 win over second seeded Marywood University. The Blue & White scored early in the 16th minute on a goal by Bobby Kane assisted by Paolo Chavarria. Cabrini would take the 1-0 lead into halftime as it edged Marywood 8-5 in shots. Cabrini would again strike early in the second half with a goal in the 52nd minute from Jared Irwin again assisted by Chavarria.

The Cavaliers would hold the 2-0 lead until the Pacers cut the lead into half at the 62nd minute off a goal by Matt Hull assisted by Danny Lopez. Senior goalkeeper Justin Sunseri of Marywood kept the game close totaling 12 saves on the day, including eight in the second half, but the Cavs hung on for the 2-1 win.

Paolo Chavarria from Cabrini was named the Championship MVP.

Cabrini (15-2-3) earned the CSAC automatic qualifier with the win and will learn its NCAA fate on Monday.
