Daytona Beach, FL – The Marywood University women's basketball team came short in a hard fought 59-55 loss to Adrian College Tuesday in the Land of Magic Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Pacers finish their Sunshine State trip winless after a defeat at the hands of Iowa Wesleyan University Monday.

Gabrielle Giordano led the Pacers with 18 points with six field goals. Natasha Hessling scored a career-high 11 points, and Alyssa Olson reached double figures with 10. Both Hessling and Giordano finished with a team-best six rebounds.

Antoinea McElroy had a double-double for Adrian with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jorden York finished with 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Adrian never led by more than two possessions the entire second half. Catie Nealon hit a jumper with 5:04 left to put the Pacers within two (54-52). Olson brought the deficit back to two with a pair of free throws at 3:57. McElroy made a crucial jump shot to go ahead by four with just over three minutes to spare.

Giordano's free throw made it a one possession game, and a McElroy giveaway provided Marywood with a chance to tie the game with 21 seconds left. Giordano's 3-point shot was unsuccessful at the other end. Marywood received possession with five seconds remaining but an Amber McCullough steal sealed the win for the Bulldogs.

Marywood (4-6) will travel to Rosemont College Jan. 5 for its first game of the new year.
