Scranton, PA - Visiting Centenary College held off a late rally from Marywood University for a 69-63 win over the Pacers and in the process clinched a post-season playoff berth.  The Cyclones improved to 13-11 (10-7 CSAC) while Marywood, who still has a scenario where they can reach the post-season, dropped its fourth straight and stand at 13-11 (8-9 CSAC).

Marywood's Connor Callejas led all scorers with a game-high 23 points that came on 9 of 13 shooting from the floor (4 of 7 from three).  He was joined in double figures by Jeremy Ringland (10 points). Centenary, meanwhile, had three players pots double digit efforts.  They were led by Myles McLeod who h ad 15 while Djovan Beausejour had 13 and Rashaan Spencer had 10.

In a game that saw 19 made three pointers, 14 of which came in the first half, it was Centenary's dominance in the paint, where they out-scored the Pacers 30-10, that made the difference.  Four of those points from Marywood came in the final minute. Centenary out-scored the Pacers 14-0 in the lane in the first half.

Trailing 19-11 after 10 minutes of play, Marywood hit four three pointers in a row, including three from Callejas, to take a 25-21 lead.  After a timeout, the Cyclones reclaimed the lead thanks to a 5-0 run.

With Marywood leading 27-26, Spencer made a layup and then nailed a trey to give the Cyclones a lead they would not relinquish.

Leading 34-32 at the start of the second half, Centenary out-scored Marywood 13-5 over the opening five minutes of play to build a double-digit lead. The Cyclones would keep the Pacers at a distance for much of the second half, but with the visitors up 64-53 with 3:59 to go, Marywood's pressure defense forced some key turnovers and missed lay-ins for the Cyclones and the Pacers got back to within two (65-63) with one minute remaining.

A missed three at the visitor's end gave Marywood the chance to tie or take the lead, but an over-eager drive to the lane resulted in a turnover that gave the ball back to the Cylones, and from there Beausejour and Andy Charles went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe to seal the win.

The Pacers have one regular season game remaining. Marywood must have Keystone beat Baptist Bible tonight, then Marywood must beat Keystone Wednesday night in LaPlume (7:05 pm) and hope that Immaculata, who is currently 9-8 in league play, falls to Neumann on the road.  That scenario would force a three-way tiebreaker, of which the Pacers could come out on top with the sixth and final playoff berth.

Wednesday night's game at Keystone will be broadcast live by WQMY MyNetworkTV.
