Pacers Avenge Early Loss, Down Immac 68-58

Scranton, PA - Marywood University placed three players in double figures and hit 19 second half free throws as the Pacers avenged an early season loss to Immaculata University with a 68-58 win over the Mighty Macs Wednesday evening in Scranton.  The Pacers, now 13-7 on the year overall and 8-5 in league play, sit in a five-way tie for second place in the CSAC standings, with all five teams one-half game behind Cabrini, who is 9-5 in league play.

Shane Letthand led the Pacers iwth 16 points.  Shane Kellaher had 14 and Connor Callejas, who was 8 for 11 from the charity stripe, added 12.  

The Pacers trailed by six in the early going after a three from Immaculata's Rodney Duncan, but the Pacers forced the first tie of the game at 17-17 after Letthand nailed a three.  Over the next six minutes, the visitors would go ion a 16-6 run to take a 10 point lead, 33-23, with 2:05 to go in the half.

Marywood chipped away at the lead again, and a traditional three-point play from Callejas got the Pacers to within three, 33-30, at the break.  

The Mighty Macs would keep between a five and eight point lead over the opening seven minutes of the second half, but trailing 43-36 an Alex Barr trey would ignite a 6-0 run to get Marywood back within one (43-42).

With 6:30 to go, Letthand would sink both ends of a one-on-one to give the Pacers their first lead since they were up 9-8.  With Marywood leading 47-46 the two teams would trade leads over the next two minutes.  Kellaher would tie the game at 53-53 on a spectacular lay-in and Letthand would put the Pacers up 56-55 on a three with 2:06 to play. 

Another three from Jeremy Ringland gave the Pacers some breathing room, and from there Marywood put the game away on the free throw line.

Mamadou Diakite led all scorers with a game-high 20 for the Mighty Macs.  He completed the double-double with 10 boards. Duncan added 12 for the Mighty Macs.

Marywood will host Gwynedd Mercy at 3:00 pm Saturday in another pivotal CSAC battle.
