Scranton, PA – Marywood University fell short to crosstown rival The University of Scranton 6-3 Wednesday in non-conference men's lacrosse. The Pacers suffered their eighth straight defeat to the Royals. Each of the past five contests has been settled by four or fewer goals.

The nine total goals scored sets a new school record for fewest combined in a game, eclipsing a 6-4 Marywood victory over King's College in 2013.

The Pacers received goals from Brandon Terlizzi, Sam Trill and Scott Slater. Dylan Swope added two assists. Joe Magargal made 17 saves in goal.

Anthony Lombardo provided three points for Scranton with a goal and two assists. Will Mahle led the scoring with two goals. Brad Elkin had five ground balls, and Nicholas McKaba earned the win with nine saves.

Scranton (1-3) picks up its first victory of the year. Marywood drops to 1-2.

A scoreless first period made way to a Mahle goal 90 seconds into the second from Lombardo. Terlizzi evened the score at the 8:43 mark for his team-best sixth of the season. Scranton boosted the lead to two goals thanks to consecutive goals by John Sheridan and Lombardo in a 48-second span.

Just before the end of the first half, Swope found Slater with a backdoor pass that Slater found the corner of the net to send the game to halftime with a 3-2 deficit.

Nick Mullery's fast-break goal was the only score of the third period, and Scranton doubled the Pacers at 4-2. Millard countered a Pacers' turnover with an unassisted goal at 8:33 in the fourth.

Sam Trill and the Pacers received good fortune from a Royal penalty and capitalized on a cross from Swope with 6:08 left. Marywood was unable to inch any closer, and Mahle closed the door with a man-up goal in the final minute.

Marywood begins its Spring Break trip Saturday when it travels to Westminster, Md. to face McDaniel College. The Pacers cap their trip by taking on former coach Mic Grant and his Bridgewater College team on March 11.
