Gwynedd Valley, PA - Sam Trill scored a game-winning goal 32 seconds into overtime to propel Marywood University to a 9-8 victory over rival Gwynedd Mercy University Saturday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse. The Pacers (8-3, 4-0 CSAC) win their seventh straight game, tying a 2009 mark for longest in program history.

The Pacers bounced back from a four-goal deficit after the first period in the rematch of last year's CSAC semifinal. Gwynedd Mercy jolted to a 5-1 lead before Marywood scored six straight goals stretching into the third period.

After Gwynedd Mercy (8-4, 2-2 CSAC) regained the lead with 3:15 left in regulation, Rob Maini sent the game into overtime with 87 seconds remaining in regulation. Following Jake Drexl's faceoff win and ground ball to start the overtime frame, possession scurried into Griffins territory following a timeout. Cody Bachman retrieved the ball at the top of the goal area, passing to Trill on his left. The senior midfielder briskly released a shot to the lower right frame of the net, kareening into the net off the goalkeeper's pads for the game winner.

Marywood retains its position atop the CSAC standings tied with Cabrini College.

Dylan Swope surpassed two miletones with a two goal, three assist performance. Swope becomes the fourth Marywood player to reach the 150 point plateau. At 150, he is now four points shy of William Roerden '11 on the all-time list. He also tallied his 50th and 51st goals of his career.

Scott Slater totaled four points with two goals, two assists. Stephen Deiner and Bachman both merited two points with a goal and an assist. Ryan Nowell premiered defensively with three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Joe O'Connell added two caused turnovers.

Joe Magargal flashed in net with 17 saves, allowing eight goals, in a complete game effort. Magargal continues his pace to break the single season school record for goals against average (6.28) and save percentage (.667).

Trailing 5-1 through one period, Deiner set things in motion with a goal at the 7:17 mark. Brandon Terlizzi trimmed the deficit to three at 3:10, and Swope posted a game-changing man-down goal via Slater with two minutes left. Gwynedd Mercy went to halftime with a 5-4 lead.

This time trading places, Slater and Swope teamed up again to even the game at five apiece 5:06 into the second half. Just 52 seconds later, Bachman aced a shot thanks to a Deiner helper for the Pacers' first lead of the game.

Over the next 15 minutes, Gwynedd Mercy scored three of the four goals scored and took the lead for the final time on a Nick Gugliemi shot.

Marywood looks to stay undefeated in conference play and set a new benchmark for longest winning streak when it hosts Keystone College for the first time Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
