Hackettstown, NJ - Marywood's softball team exploded for nine runs in the top of the 7th inning of game two at Centenary College to earn a 13-4 win and preserve a split with the Cyclones. Centenary took the opening game, 3-0. Marywood finished the week with a 5-1 mark and now stands at 8-10 overall and 8-2 in the CSAC, while Centenary is now 6-14, 5-1 CSAC.

In the opener, Centenary plated a run in the third and two more in the fourth to earn the shutout win. Alyssa Bavaro (3-4) suffered her fourth loss on the mound after allowing two earned runs on four hits over 3.2 innings of work. Emily Perruso did not allow a hit in 2.1 innings of relief work.

Marywood's bats were also held in check in the opener, as the Pacers only had six hits. Alexa Scala had two of those, as did Kathleen Rossi.

In the nightcap, with the game tied 4-4, Marywood exploded offensively for the win. Scala singled to left to start the inning and moved to second on a Sarah Recanati single to center. Brooke Labs would double to left to score Scala, and after Mariah Runco walked to load the bases, Marywood would score another run on a passed ball.

Leading 6-4, Chelsea Epler singled in a run and Rossi would get a SAC RBI to make it 8-4. Later in the inning, Katelyn Grimes cleared the bases with a three-run double to right field. Scala would close out the scoring later in the inning with a SAC fly to center that scored Grimes.

Labs finished the game with three doubles. Runco picked up her first homer of the year with a second inning blast to right field.

Recanati started on the mound for the Pacers and allowed three earned runs over five innings of work. Perruso (2-3) got the win after allowing just one hit in two innings of relief.

The Pacers return to the diamond Tuesday with a twinbill at nearby Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit.
