Aston, PA - Neumann University scored the winning run on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to complete a comeback and down visiting Marywood University 9-8 in CSAC baseball action Monday afternoon in Aston.  The game was completed this afternoon after being suspended in the top of the 5th due to rain on April 8.

Marywood University (14-6, 7-4 CSAC) had just rallied from a 3-0 deficit with a six-run fourth inning and held a 6-4 lead over host Neumann University (11-5, 6-3) after four full innings of play, but a heavy band of rain forced the game to be suspended.

Neumann scored two unearned runs on the first Marywood error of the day in the bottom of the 2nd and added a third run in the 3rd inning on a RBI single up the middle.

But down 3-0 entering the top of the 4th, Marywood got their first run of the game when Nic Arrue doubled to left field to score Matt Staback, who had walked to start the inning and advanced to second when Tommy Smith was hit by a pitch.

Erik Pulkkinen then tied the game at 3-3 with a two-run double to right that scored Arrue and Smith, and Alan Nieto put the Pacers up 4-3 by advancing home on a throwing error by Neumann's catcher

Marywood went up 5-3 when Daniel Hull singled through the right side to score Pulkkinen, and doubled up Neumann 6-3 when Staback's sacrifice fly to left in his second at-bat of the inning scored Hull from third.

The Knights got one back in the bottom of the fourth on a unearned run due to a fielding error by the Pacers, but Marywood starter Bryan Noonan got a pop up to strand two runners for the Knights and end the inning.

Upon resuming play, after giving up one run Marywood went up 8-5 on a Thomas Richards double and Matt Staback single, but the Knights charged right back and eventually tied the game at 8-8 with a sacrifice flyout.

With the bases loaded, Neumann got the winning run across the plate via a base on balls.

Hull finished the game 2-for-4 while Staback and Pulkkinen each had a pair of RBI.  Justin Haddix suffered his first loss of the year (3-1) after allowing the winning run in the 9th.
