Softball Sweeps Baptist Bible, Gets Back to .500

Clarks Summit, PA - After starting the season 0-8, Marywood University has climbed back to .500 on the season after sweeping host Baptist Bible College in Colonial States Athletic Conference softball action. The Pacers, who are 10-2 in league play, earned 8-2 and 15-2 (6 innings) wins.  Marywood stands at 10-10 overall while BBC fell to 1-17 (0-10 CSAC).

After going 2-for-5 with a double in the opening game, Brooke Labs went 4-for-4 a double, triple and four RBI in the nightcap.  Chelsea Epler hit her second homer of the year in the nightcap as Marywod cruised to the win.  For the day, Epler was 3-for-6 with seven runs batted in while Labs was a combined 6-for-9 with four RBI.  

Leading 3-2 in the opener, Marywood plated five runs in the top of thefifth to open up the game.  Alyssa Bavaro evened her record at 4-4 on the mound after striking out four over a complete game.  

Brianna Kuperavage's two-run single highlighted the fifth.  Epler finished the opener 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI.

In the nightcap, Marywood put the game away early, scoring five runs in both the first and second innings to build a 10-2 lead.  Epler and Mackie Goodwin both had three RBI in game two.  Emily Perruso (3-3) got the win, striking out four while not allowing an earned run in her complete game effort.

Marywood is slated to return to action Wednesday with a non-conference doubleheader at the University of Scranton.
