Brooke Labs had a double, triple and 2 RBI in Marywood's 7-6 win over Scranton Wednesday Marywood Holds Off Scranton, 7-6 Softball - 4/15/2015 4:56:00 PM Box Score Box ScoreJessup, PA - Marywood University held off the University of Scranton one final time to edge the Royals 7-6 in non-conference softball action Wednesday afternoon at the Jessup Youth Sports Complex outside of Scranton. Scranton rallied from deficits of 6-0, 6-5 and 7-5 but left the tying run stranded at third as the Pacers improved to 11-10 with the win. Scranton fell to 10-8.Marywood built a 6-0 lead in the top of the third on the strength of a pair of RBI from both Katelyn Grimes and Brooke Labs. With two on and no out, Labs tripled to score Heather Schultz and Alexa Scala, who had both singled to start the inning.Chelsea Epler's single through the right side scored Labs to make it 3-0 in favor of the Pacers, and after Mackie Goodwin singled to put two on again for Marywood Grimes singled down the right field line to score both Epler and Goodwin.Jennifer Owens singled down the right field line to score Grimes as Marywood went up 6-0.Scranton snuck one back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Maria Gentile, and made it 6-2 with a solo homer from Shannon Stricker in the bottom of the 4th. Scranton then got to within one of the Pacers with a three run sixth. The first run came across on a routine groundout to short. Jacqueline DeSarro then blasted a two-run homer to left to make it 6-5.Marywood got an unearned run back in the top of the 7th on a RBI single to left from Kathleen Rossi that scored Goodwin, which proved to be an insurance run in every sense of the word.With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Scranton got a runner on who would score on a RBI triple from Stricker. But, Emily Perruso would get a game-ending pop-out to short to preserve the win.For the game, Labs was 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBI and one run scored. Scala and Schultz each had two hits as well. Perruso went the distance, allowing six runs on 11 hits.
