Immaculata, PA - Marywood University was held to just one second half goal as Immaculata University downed the Pacers 9-4 Thursday in a key Colonial States Athletic Conference women's lacrosse meeting. Trailing by two at halftime, the Pacers (7-6, 6-2 CSAC) out-scored 4-1 in the second half by the Mighty Macs (9-5, 6-2 CSAC). 

Ranked second nationally in caused turnovers, Marywood forced 21 Mighty Mac giveaways. Jennifer Newins and Mary Ninivaggi both caused four apiece. Kelly Ciabattone instigated three and corralled four ground balls. 

Immaculata dominated the draw control game by winning 11 of 14, led by Danielle Lopez's six. Immaculata doubled the Pacers in shots by a 24-12 margin. 

Stacy Griffing scored two of the Pacers' four goals. Natalie Burke and Michelle Thompson each added a goal. 

Lauren Smith made nine saves in a losing effort. 

Immaculata tacked on two goals early on from Allison Jakavick and Lopez in the opening 2:40 of the game. Burke went to the high-right side of the goal to cut the lead in half. Lopez responded with a pair to extend the lead to 4-1 at the 14:19 mark. Griffing halved the deficit to 4-2 with a woman-up goal at 8:30. Following a Hannah Verrecchia score at 7:47, Thompson sent the Pacers to halftime trailing 5-3. 

Griffing scored the only goal of the second half for Marywood. Immaculata kept the Pacers scoreless for the final 20 minutes, 9 seconds. 

Marywood faces a formidable foe Saturday when it travels to Cabrini College for a noon tilt.
