Langhorne, PA - Marywood University used two big innings to down host Cairn University 13-7 in Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball action Friday and in the process got Head Coach and longtime mentor Jerry Davis career win 100. The Pacers improved to 16-6 on the year and 8-4 in league play with the win while Cairn dropped to 6-19 (1-8).

Marywood had two big innings, one for five runs and another for four, to stay ahead of the Highlanders. Justin Perez got the win after throwing three innings of middle relief work. Nic Arrue and Daniel Hull each had three hits to lead Marywood.

Down 1-0 after two innings, Marywood exploded for five runs on six hits and an error in the top of the third to take a 5-1 lead. Vince Rebar, Thomas Richards and Matt Staback all had RBI doubles in the inning

Despite giving one back in the bottom half of the inning, Marywood remained in control and tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth on a two-run single to left from Tommy Smith.

After Cairn got two more in the bottom of the sixth and made it a 7-6 ballgame, the Pacers put the game out of reach in the seventh by scoring four runs and going up 11-6. Arrue highlighted the inning with a two run double.

Bryan Noonan threw the first four innings for the Pacers and struck out four before being relieved by Perez (1-1). Perez went the next three, striking out four as well, before Hull threw the final two innings and allowed just one hit while fanning another four Highlanders.

Arrue finished the game with three RBI and three runs scored.

The Pacers and Highlanders will complete their three game regular season series with a doubleheader tomorrow in Scranton. Game one begins at 12:00 noon. Coach Davis and the team will be honoring numerous seniors on the day.
