Philadelphia, PA - Marywood University failed to advance to the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship match for the first time in six years as the third seeded Pacers fell to #2 Neumann University 5-1 in the CSAC semifinals Friday afternoon at Legacy Club in Philadelphia.  Marywood closes their season with a 5-4 mark.

Marywood fails to advance past the semifinal round for the first time in the last six season.  Marywood had made the CSAC Championship match for the past five seasons, which included four consecutive Championships (2010-2013) and one Runner-Up finish (2014).

Marywood held early leads in all three doubles matches, but the Knights (9-2) rallied in two of those to take a 2-1 lead into singles play. At #3 doubles, Brendan Brown and Gianni Monteleone picked up an 8-4 win to put Marywood up 1-0.  Daniel Tintle and Mark Van Nort fell in the top doubles flight 8-5, suffering their first loss as a duo to a conference opponent this year.

At #2 doubles, Marywood's Gavin Coyne and Steven Garubba fell in a tight one, 9-8.
Trevor Hoopes then beat Garubba at #4 singles 6-1, 6-2 to put Neumann up 3-1, and Monteleone fell to Nick Manza at #6 singles 6-2, 6-4 to make it 4-1.
Neumann closed out the match with a 5-7, 7-5, 6-1 win from Dustin Broome over Tintle at #2 singles. Matches at 1, 3 and 5 singles went unfinished.

Neumann advances to take on #1 Gwynedd Mercy tomorrow for the CSAC's automatic bid to the Division III National Championship tournament.  The match is set to begin at 4:00 pm.
