Scranton, PA - Keystone College scored three runs early and used strong pitching to avoid being swept by Marywood University as the Giants won the regular season series finale with the Pacers, 3-1. Keystone (21-11, 7-5 CSAC) got seven strikeouts from Jesse Arnold and prevailed despite being out-hit by the Pacers (18-7, 10-5 CSAC), 9-3.

Keystone jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second on a wild play. With runners on the corners and one out, Marywood's James Goetz struck out the batter and catcher Tommy Smith threw down to second on a steal attempt. The runner from first was caught in a rundown, but Chris Bzozowski scored from third during the rundown.

In the top of the third, the Giants got two unearned runs on a two-base throwing error off a sacrifice bunt attempt and later on a wild pitch.

The Pacers got on the board in the seventh as Erik Pulkkinen doubled to left field and would score on Daniel Hull's single to center.

Unfortunately for Marywood, solid relief work from Jake Granteed and Felix Baez preserved the Keystone lead. Granteed pitched a scoreless eighth inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. Baez go the save after striking out all three batters he faced in the bottom of the ninth.

Goetz went eight innings, allowing on earned run on three hits. Russell Baldino pitched the ninth, striking out two of the three batters he faced.

Marywood will host Wilkes Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
