Scranton, PA - Visiting Wilkes Univeristy scored all their runs in one inning and netted a 4-2 win over host Marywood University in non-conference baseball action Monday afternoon in Scranton. Thomas Richards hit his first homer of the season in the loss for the Pacers, who fell to 18-8 overall. Wilkes improved to 17-20 with the win.

Scoreless through four innings of play, the Colonels put up four on relief pitcher James Goetz in the top of the fifth inning. A run scoring double from Joshua Slocum followed by an RBI ground-out put Wilkes up 2-0. The Colonels then doubled their lead on a two-run triple from James Brown.

In the bottom of the sixth Marywood answered. Daniel Hull reached on an infield single, then came home when Richards sent his first long ball of the year over the right field fence.

The two-run shot cut the visitor's lead in half, but neither team could add any more runs as both got solid closing pitching over the final innings of play.

Starter Matt Kaster was a no-decision for Wilkes after going three scoreless innings and now allowing a hit while fanning three. Marywood starter Russell Baldino was also solid, allowing just one hit and striking out one over three innings of work as well.

James Goetz (2-2) took the loss for Marywood after allowing all four runs on four hits and two walks.

Joseph DiLoreto and Justin Haddix each pitched two innings for Marywood. DiLoreto struck out two and did not allow a hit over the sixth and seventh innings while Haddix fanned three and allowed two hits over the final two innings.

Tyler Piccotti (1-2) got the win for Wilkes despite allowing all of Marywood's offensive production. Tom Ring got his first save after pitching the final three innings. Ring struck out two and did not allow a hit.

Marywood returns to action Friday as they begin a key CSAC series with Immaculata University. Both teams are in the thick of the playoff hunt.
