Marywood (5-9 overall) took the opening game 7-1. Immaculata fell to 3-13 (3-3 CSAC) with the losses.In the opener, Marywood took a 2-0 lead into the fourth when they exploded for four runs, breaking the game open and taking a commanding 6-0 lead. Six of Marywood's seven runs in the game were unearned as the Pacers took advantage of four Immaculata fielding errors to keep innings going. Brooke Labs and Stephanie Bagniewski were both 2-for-4 at the plate. Bagniewski had two RBI while Labs had one. Alexa Scala added an RBI as part of a 1-for-2 day at the plate. Kathleen Rossi was 2-for-3 with a triple and pair of runs scored. Mariah Runco and Bagniewski each had doubles.Alyssa Bavaro (2-3) pitched a complete game to get the win. Bavaro, fresh off her CSAC Pitcher of the Week award for her efforts last week, struck out one and allowed six scattered hits. In the nightcap, Marywood held a 6-2 lead going into the 7th but the Mighty Macs rallied with five runs to force a bottom of the seventh as Immaculata stayed alive and took a 7-6 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Marywood rallied themselves, and got a RBI double from Mariah Runco to tie the game and a winning single from Chelsea Epler that scored Runco.Sarah Recanati got a no decision on the mound after allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 6.2 innings of work. Emily Perruso (1-3) got the win, getting the final out of the top of the seventh in relief.Runco was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored in the win. Labs was 2-for-4 with a double, while Rossi again went 2-for-3 and had an RBI and run scored for the Pacers.Marywood returns to action tomorrow with a CSAC twinbill at Cairn University in Langhorne.Print Friendly Version
