Immaculata, PA - For the first time in program history, Marywood University has earned the top seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference baseball post-season tournament. By virtue of the Pacers' split with Immaculata Saturday and Keystone's loss to Gwynedd Mercy in game one of their double header, Marywood assured themselves of the #1 overall seed.

A day after clinching their second playoff berth in the last four years, Marywood assured themselves of home-field advantage by taking game two from the Mighty Macs, 8-3. Immaculata won the opener, 5-0. The Pacers improved to 20-9 overall, 12-6 in league play, marking only the second 20-win season in program history as well. The 12 CSAC wins is a new program record.

Immaculata (17-14, 11-7 CSAC) jumped ahead 1-0 in the second inning of the opener and added two more in the third and two more in the fourth. Three Immaculata pitchers combined for the shutout win, allowing just seven hits total while striking out four Marywood batters.

Justin Haddix (4-2) suffered his second loss of the season after allowing three earned runs on six hits over five innings of work. Justin Perez pitched a scoreless sixth for the Pacers.

Erik Pulkkinen was 2-for-4 for Marywood while Matt Staback and James Goetz each had doubles.

In the series clinching nightcap Marywood took a 2-1 lead into the fourth and then exploded for six runs over the next two innings, three in each the top of the third and top of the fourth.

Goetz (3-3) evened his record at .500 by getting the complete-game win. Goetz allowed three earned runs and struck out four.

Daniel Hull was 2-for-4 with a double and a two-run single while Thomas Richards and Nic Arrue each had doubles as well. Arrue finished the nightcap 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Vince Rebar tripled for Marywood.

Immaculata used seven pitchers in game two.

The Pacers will host an opponent yet to be determined on Thursday, May 7 in the opening round game. Marywood must wait for Neumann's results Sunday against Cairn to see if they will host Immaculata or Neumann.  A Neumann sweep of Cairn would pit Marywood and Immaculata together for the fourth straight game while a split would have the Pacers play the Knights.
