Scranton, PA - King's College got two goals from Madysen Jones as the visiting Monarch's downed Marywood University 4-0 to open the 2015 field hockey season in Scranton.  King's (1-0) also got goals from Caitlin Wood and Kelsey Doyle while Marywood's Nicole Merrill made a game high nine saves in the loss.

In exhausting heat, Wood's got the Monarch's on the board just 9:43 into the contest when she tapped in a cross from Alyssa Monaghan in front of the goal.  Nearly 20 minutes later, Jones doubled the visitor's lead with an unassisted tally in the 31st minute of play after fighting off a defender in the circle and drilling home a shot from 10 yards out.

Just six minutes into the second, Woods made it 3-0 when she tapped in a blast from Sarah Zbierski.

King's would close the scoring in the 55th minute when Doyle capitalized off a penalty corner from Anastasia Arakiavis.

Tori Jo Kakusian led the Pacers with three shots on goal while Cassie Stockwell had the other.  Marywood was out-shot 24-8 (13-6 on goal) in the game.

Marywood returns to action Saturday at 4:00 pm as the Pacers travel to Massachusetts to take on Bay Path.  The game will be played at Elms College.
