Kingston, PA - Tied 0-0 at the break, Wilkes University scored three second half goals en route to a 3-1 win over visiting Marywood University Thursday afternoon in non-conference field hockey action.  The loss drops the Pacers to 1-2 on the year.  Cassie Stockwell scored Marywood's goal off a helper from Leanne McManus.

A scoreless first half saw the host Colonels (3-1) out-shoot the Pacers 16-2.  Thanks to eight first half saves from Nicole Merrill, the Pacers remained in the contest until early in the second half.

Wilkes broke through on a goal from Jenna Skrinak in the 41st minute.  Marissa Surdy's shot was saved by Merrill but Skrinak put home the rebound to put Wilkes up 1-0. Just under five minutes later, the Pacers tied the game on Stockwell's first tally of the season.  McManus carried the ball up the right side of the field and found a wide open Stockwell as Marywood leveled the game at 1-1.

In the 51st minute of action, Wilkes's Marissa Surdy scored her first of two consecutive goals on a penalty corner from Maura Anistranski.  Surdy added an insurance goal with just over a minute left on a feed from Skrinak.

Merrill finished with a game-high 15 saves while Wilkes' keeper Dallas Kendra made seven stops in the win.  Kirsten Webb was credited with a defensive save for the Pacers as well. Wilkes out-shot Marywood 28-10 on the day which included a 18-8 advantage in shots on goal.

Marywood returns to action Saturday with a contest at Ramapo College in New Jersey. Game time in Mahwah is set for 1:00 pm.
