Pacers Down Cairn 7-2, Remain Unbeaten in CSAC

Scranton, PA - Marywood University remained unbeaten in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's tennis play with a 7-2 win over visiting Cairn University Saturday afternoon.  The Pacers (4-1, 3-0 CSAC) swept doubles action and won #3 through #6 singles matches over the Highlanders (2-4, 2-2).

Nicole Sinclair and Devin Zombek cruised to a 8-0 win at #3 doubles to start the Pacers off right, and were followed by a 8-2 win from Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela at #2 doubles.  In the top doubles flight, Avery McCall and Devon Underwood edged Cairn's Rebecca Graber and Julia Derus, 8-5.

Graber and Derus would earn two points for the Highlanders at #1 and #2 singles, respectively, as Graber beat McCall 6-2, 6-2 and Derus defeated Doud 6-4, 6-2.  But from there it was all Marywood, as Underwood (#3) and Kobela (#4) each earned 6-2, 6-1 wins over their opponents while Sinclair and Shannon Spencer won at five and six singles, respectively, 6-0, 6-0.

The Pacers will travel to Cedar Crest College Sunday for a 3:00 pm CSAC battle in Allentown.
