Women's Tennis Wins 5th Straight, Blanks Keystone

Scranton, PA - Host Marywood University blanked visiting Keystone College 9-0 in CSAC women's tennis action Saturday for the Pacers' fifth consecutive win.  Marywood now stands at 6-1 on the year and remain unbeaten in league play at 5-0, while the Giants slipped to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the league.

In doubles action, Nicole Sinclair and Devin Zombek cruised to an 8-0 win at #3 doubles while Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela had litte trouble in an 8-1 win at #2 doubles.  In the top doubles flight, Avery McCall and Devon Underwood were challenged to the end by Amanda Perry and Rebecca White from Keystone but eventually won 9-7 to help the Pacers take a 3-0 lead into single play.

There, the tightest match of the afternoon came in the #1 singles flight as McCall edged White 5-7, 6-4, 10-2.  Doud was a 6-0, 6-1 winner at #2 singles while Underwood downed Perry 6-1, 6-1 at #3. 

Kobela (6-0, 6-2), Sinclair (6-0, 6-2) and Shannon Spencer (6-1, 6-0) all won at four through six singles for Marywood, respectively.

Marywood returns to the courts Friday when they host Cabrini at 4:00 pm.
