Scranton, PA - Marywood University won their CSAC opener by downing visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University 9-0 Saturday afternoon in Scranton. The win lifts the Pacers to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play while the Gators are 0-1 overall and in the league.

In a tighter match than most expected, Nicole Sinclair and Emily Zarrilli escaped Notre Dame's duo of Sandy Vo and Kaitlyn Sommer 8-7 (7-5) in number three doubles action.  Abygail Doud and Melanie Kobela won 8-1 at #2, while Avery McCall and Devon Underwood were 8-3 winners in the top doubles flight.

McCall, Doud and Underwood all cruised to wins at 1-3 singles, respectively, while Kobela beat Natalie Smith 6-4, 6-2 at #4.  Sinclair won in a second set retirement and Shannon Spencer finished off the win for Marywood with a 7-5, 1-6, 10-5 win at #6 singles over Sommer. 

Marywood returns to action Friday when they take on Summit University in CSAC action in Clarks Summit. Marywood beat the Defenders 9-0 in non-conference action last Tuesday to open the season.
