Men's Golf Splits Tri-Match, Thomas Earns Medalist Honors

Moosic, PA - Marywood University's Michael Thomas won his first medalist honors of the year by firing a three over par 74 at Glenmaura National Golf Club Tuesday afternoon but the Pacers split their tri-match with the University of Scranton and King's College. The Royals won with a team score of 310 while Marywood followed with a 318 and the Monarchs finished with 348.

Thomas, who won a team-best seven medalist honors last season, shot well in intensive heat on the par 71, 6,308 yard course to win his first match of the year.  Scranton's Kyle Hayes finished second with a 75 while Marywood's Jesse Bingaman and Scranton's Steven Lambrinakos tied for third with 77s.  

Scranton then dominated the rest of the top 10, placing the fifth, sixth and seventh place golfers while having three more tie for eighth to round out the top 10.

Marywood's Dalton Deardorff finished 11th with a 83 (+12) while Nicholas Johnson shot a 84 (+13).  

Other golfers for Marywood included Dominick Mancinelli (88), Fred Tolerico (91), Jordon Ohler (96), Austin Zehel (99) and Gaetano Zarra (103).  

Kris Carr had the highest finish for the Monarchs, a 14th place finish with a round of 86.

Marywood will take part in the King's College tri-match next Thursday, September 17, at the Wyoming Valley Country Club in Hanover Township.
