Highlanders Stave Off Pacers in Closing Minutes

Scranton, PA - Marywood University was unable to overcome Cairn University in a 64-56 loss Wednesday in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action. The Highlanders' victory ends an 11-game losing streak to the Pacers, marking their first win (then Philadelphia Biblical) over Marywoood since an 84-77 overtime game on Feb. 18, 2010.

Cairn took the lead 90 seconds into the game and held onto it the entirity of the game. The Pacers were at arm's length for the majority of the second half, within one or two possessions, yet could not overtake the Highlanders. 

Connor Shroyer was two rebounds shy of a double-double with 17 points and eight boards. Tip Swartz took down 10 rebounds to go with seven points. 

Shane Letthand moved to within 100 of the 1,000 Point Club with 14. Factoring in his Penn State Worthington freshman campaign, Letthand is 96 shy of the plateau. 

JD Zamroz cashed in on four 3-pointers to lead the Highlanders with 16 points. Gerroid Doughty had a double-double with 12 point and 10 rebounds. He was three assists shy of a triple-double. Josh Vlna scored 12 points. 

Marywood hosts Cabrini College Saturday at 3:00 pm.
