Scranton, PA - Connor Callejas set a new career high with 30 points and Marywood University rallied several times from large deficits but in the end visiting Cabrini College escaped the Insalaco Arena with a 80-73 win over the Pacers Saturday afternoon in CSAC men's basketball action.  Marywood fell to 4-11 (0-8 CSAC) with the loss while Cabrini, who had four players in double figures, improved to 8-6 (6-2 league).

Callejas' new career high came on 10 of 16 shooting from the floor and a seven of eight effort from the charity stripe.  Topping his personal best by four points set versus then Baptist Bible College (now Summit University) in the 2014-15 season, Callejas led the Pacers with 19 first half points, then, despite being held scoreless for over 13 minutes in the second half, scored 11 more down the stretch to lead all scorers in the game.

Marywood trailed 28-14 early but went on a 11-0 run over a 2:47 span to come to within three (28-25).  The Pacers then extended that same run to 18-3 to take a 32-31 lead before Cabrini got a tip-in off a missed shot at the buzzer to reclaim a 33-32 lead at the break.  Bott teams struggled from long range in the opening stanza with Marywood hitting 22.2% of their three point attempts and Cabrini just 20%.

The Cavs opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 38-32 lead before Marywood responded with their own 5-0 run to get back to within one.

A Cabrini 12-0 run over a four minute span proved to be the difference in the game, and eventually Cabrini went up 20 (63-43).

Marywood again climbed back, making a game of it when their own 11-2 run.  The Pacers then cut their deficit to seven with 1:27 to go on a traditional three point play from Callejas  and a Shane Letthand steal and layin made it 70-65 with 1:03 to go.

Cabrini was able to stave off the Marywood comeback by sinking several free throws in the final minute of play.

Jair Green led the Cavaliers with 20 points on nine of 11 shooting from the floor.  Tyheim Monroe had a double-double with 17 points and 17 boards.

Dimitri Thompson (11 points) and Connor Shroyer (10 points) joined Callejas in double digits for Marywood.

The Pacers are back in action January 20 when they host Summit University at 8:00 pm.
