Scranton, PA - Marywood University came short to rival Keystone College 72-65 in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's basketball action. The Pacers had four players reach double figures but were unable to stop the Giants' solid performance from the field.

James Curley scored a career-best 21 points for the Pacers. Curley went 7 for 14 from the field and made five 3-pointers. Shane Letthand posted 20 points for his fourth 20-plus effort of the year. Letthand stands 50 shy of becoming the eighth member of the 1,000 Point Club. He also supplied seven assists.

Cory Callejas and Connor Shroyer each provided 10 points. Shroyer led the team with seven rebounds.

Deion Monroe connected for 15 points for the Giants (4-13, 4-6 CSAC). Devin Williams and Tyree Jones came in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. ShaShawn Drayton was a point shy of a double-double with 10 rebounds.

Marywood (5-12, 1-9 CSAC) made 11 3-pointers on a 31.4 percent performance from the field. Its counterparts were on fire with a 50 percent night from beyond the arc and a 52.1 percent shooting outing overall. The Pacers out-rebounded the Giants by a 38-35 margin.

The Giants came out swinging with eight unanswered points in the first 100 seconds of the game. Marywood's defense stepped up to hold them without a field goal for nearly a five-minute span while the Pacers outscored the Giants 8-2 to take a lead off a Callejas layup with 11:17 left in the first. After the teams were squared at 16, the Pacers lived by the 3-pointers with a pair from Letthand and Callejas to take its largest lead of the game (24-17) with an 8-1 run. Keystone followed that up with a 10 point swing to reclaim the lead (27-24) on a Devin Williams layup. Jones hit a fadeaway 3-pointer at the buzzer to go into halftime with a 40-33 lead.

Keystone did not relinquish its lead in the second half. Giants senior Tyreek Peeples stuck a dagger into the Pacers' hopes twice late in the second half. Marywood cut it to a two-possession game before Peeples connected on a long-range shot from Jones. With less than four minutes to go, Shroyer put one back in off an offensive rebounds (thanks to a Letthand steal) that put the Pacers within eight (64-56). ShaShawn Drayon found Peeples again from NBA range to ice the final hopes for a comeback.

In addition to gate sales, both teams' coaching staffs traded their dress shoes for sneakers to support Coaches For Cancer. Marywood also held a moment of silence prior to the game to memorialize the Keystone students involved in Monday night's tragic automobile accident.

Marywood travels to Neumann University Saturday at 1:00 pm.
