Gerchman's Double-Double Propels Pacers over Ravens

Rosemont, PA – Marywood University senior Alexa Gerchman posted a double-double en route to a 67-57 victory Tuesday over Rosemont College in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action. The Pacers (5-6, 2-0 CSAC) end a three-game slide and remain undefeated through a pair of conference matches.

Gerchman finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds. She went 5 for 8 from the field in addition to five assists.

Four Pacers in total reached double figures in scoring. Joining Gerchman with 13 points was Gabrielle Giordano. Natasha Hessling supplied 12 points, and Lisa Steakin contributed 11.

Marywood shot 39.4 percent from the field to the Ravens' 32.2 percent. The Pacers crushed Rosemont in the rebounding department by a 52-35 margin.

Rosemont (3-7, 1-2 CSAC) was led by Jasmyn Parker's 16 points. Carly Hislop contributed 13 points.

Marywood jumped to a double-digit lead in the first 11 minutes of the game and held onto it throughout. The Pacers went on a 10-0 run over a 3 minute, 46 second span to make it a 20-8 game on a pair of Giordano free throws in the first minute of the second quarter.

The Pacers led by as much as 17 (29-12) on an Alyssa Olson bucket via Gerchman with less than two minutes left in the half. Rosemont closed the deficit to 13 at the break.

Rosemont closed the gap to seven on six different occasions; however, each time the Marywood offense responded to prevent the Ravens from making it a two-possession game.

While both teams had a similar number of giveaways, Marywood outscored Rosemont 16-5 in points off turnovers.

Marywood returns to Northeastern Pennsylvania for the first time in three weeks when it travels to Summit University Thursday.
