Pacers Inch Closer to Playoff Berth, Down Cabrini 8-1

Radnor, Pa. - Marywood University's women's tennis team inched closer to yet another CSAC playoff berth and handed host Cabrini College their first league loss as the Pacers downed the Cavaliers 8-1 Saturday afternoon in Radnor.  The win moves the Pacers to 7-2 overall and 6-1 in the league while Cabrini fell to 5-4 (4-1 CSAC).

Marywood had a 2-0 advantage before the match began as the Pacers took #6 singles and #3 doubles by default. 

Abygail Doud would fall 7-5, 6-2 at number one singles for the Pacers but Marywood took all other matches for the win.  Doud teamed with Kristen Lambert for a 8-6 win at #1 doubles.  Lambert would later go on to a 6-1, 6-2 win at four singles.

Avery McCall and Danielle Ogonowski would win 8-2 at two doubles and each would go on for a win in singles play.  McCall was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at three singles while Ogonoski was a 6-1, 6-3 winner in the second singles flight.

Melanie Kobela won 6-1, 6-0 at five singles.

Marywood has three non-conference matches this week before they can clinch a playoff berth next Saturday with a win over Cairn.  The Pacers take on Wilkes (11:00 am) and King's (1:00 pm) Sunday on the road before hosting Misericordia mid-week.
