Scranton, Pa. – Kerri Mountz recorded a career-high 17 saves, including a penalty stroke save in the first half, but No. 18 Kean University scored in the 62nd minute to escape Scranton with a 1-0 non-conference field hockey win. The Cougars improved to 15-2 on the year, while Marywood slipped to 10-6 despite a strong defensive effort.

Though the Cougars controlled play throughout, 17 saves from Mountz and four defensive saves from Tori Jo Kakusian kept the Pacers within striking distance until late in the game.

Mountz made seven first half stops on 11 Kean shots in the opening half, including a penalty stroke save on Shauna LaMaina's attempt in the 16th minute of play.

At the 61:15 mark, LeMaina redeemed herself after Mountz made a save. With the ball rebounding off of Mountz's pads on a shot from Rachel Mills, LeMaina put home the rebound to score the lone goal of the contest.

Marywood's only chance came in the third minute of the second half but Kakusian's shot on goal was turned away by Cougar netminder Erin Smith.

The Cougars dominated statistically, outshooting Marywood 32-2 on the day and having a 19-1 advantage in penalty corners.

Marywood will host Keystone College Thursday at 4:00 pm in the Pacers' CSAC regular season finale.  Marywood clinches the No. 3 seed in the CSAC postseason with a win but can do no worse than a No. 4 seed with a loss.
