Women's Tennis Clinches CSAC Berth, Down Cairn 7-2

Morrisville, Pa. - Marywood University clinched a CSAC playoff berth as the Pacers defeated host Cairn University 7-2 in women's tennis action Saturday afternoon at the Pennsbury Racquet Club in Morrisville.

Cairn's Becca Graber and Bianca Berney edged Abygail Doud and Kristen Lambert 9-8 (7-3) in number one doubles action but the Pacers responed with wins at number two and three doubles to take a 2-1 lead.

At two doubles, Avery McCall and Danielle Ogonowski were 8-1 winners and at number three Melanie Kobela and Nicole Sinclair got an 8-0 win for the Pacers.

In singles action, Graber defeated Doud 6-1, 6-1 at number one but Marywood took matches at two throug six singles to secure the win and appearance in one of two CSAC semifinals later in October.

Ogonowski was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at two singles while McCall won 6-2, 6-0 at three.  Lambert won 6-0, 6-1 at four while Kobela and Sinclair both won 6-0, 6-0 at five and six singles, respectively.

Marywood is back in action Friday when they host Clarks Summit University at 4:00 pm.
