Chester, Pa. – Widener University broke open the contest in the second quarter to post a 95-68 victory over Marywood University Tuesday in non-conference women's basketball. It is the largest point total allowed by the Pacers in over a decade.

Lisa Steakin scored a career-best 15 points to lead the Pacers. Steakin hit 6 of 9 shots from the field.

Gab Giordano posted 11 points and five assists. Jordan Barth tallied 10 points.

Four players reached double figures for the Pride. Devan Rimmer led with 16 points. Nikki Petri contributed 11 points, and Allison Gallagher and Emma Gardy each contributed 10.

Widener (2-2) shot 47.3 percent from the field to the Pacers' 39.7 percent. The Pride doubled the Pacers in 3-pointers (10-5) and held onto a 45-39 advantage in rebounds.

Marywood used an eight-point run in the first quarter to take its only lead of the contest. A traditional three-point play by Barth, followed by a Steakin 3-pointer, allowed Giordano's free throws to give the Pacers a 21-20 lead with 1:26 left in the first. Widener rattled six straight points in the remaining 86 seconds to take a five-point advantage.

Widener took advantage of late quarter momentum again in the second quarter. After Steakin cut the deficit to six (39-33), the Pride scored eight unanswered points over the final 2:23 of the half.

Marywood looks to take get into the win column this weekend when it takes on the Wilkes-Barre schools in the inaugural Cross County Challenge. Held crosstown at the University of Scranton, the Pacers will face Wilkes on Saturday and King's on Sunday.
