Blue Jays Take Down Pacers in Men's Lacrosse Opener

Elizabethtown, PA – The Marywood University men's lacrosse team opened its season with a 16-2 loss to Landmark Conference preseason favorites Elizabethtown College Saturday on the road. The Pacers were held scoreless for the first 27 minutes of the game.


Elizabethtown jumped to a six-goal lead before the Pacers could get on the scoreboard. Cody Larkin and Joe Clark each posted two apiece as the Blue Jays led 4-0 after the first period.

Rob Maini and Scott Slater each scored a goal for Marywood. With Slater's tally, he is 15 goals short of the 100 Goal Club. Austin Maylor added a pair of assists. Chris Favale made 15 saves in net for the Pacers. Slater led the team with five ground balls. Joe O'Connell caused two turnovers.

Clark and Lark each finished with four goals for the Blue Jays. Luke Stephens picked up six ground balls off the bench.

Davis Miracle was the game-winning goalie with seven saves.

Riley Litman won the majority of faceoffs, taking 12 of 21 from the X. Etown held a 52-33 advantage in ground balls, and Marywood committed 29 turnovers to the Blue Jays' 19. 

Marywood hosts No. 18 Ithaca College Saturday at 1:00 pm.
