Scranton, PA - Marywood University rallied from as many as 14 down to take a late lead over visiting Centenary College but the Cyclones battled back and escaped the Insalaco Arena with a 73-69 win over the Pacers Wednesday evening in Scranton.  Centenary improved to 12-8, 8-5 CSAC with the win while Marywood, who got a team-high 20 from Shane Letthand, fell to 5-15 (1-12 CSAC).

Centenary kept the Pacers at bay for much of the first half, extending their lead to as much as 13 with 1:52 to go in the frame.  But a quick 6-0 run from Marywood got the Pacers back to within single digits by the break, trailing at the half, 40-33.

With the Cyclones up 45-38, Marywood got to within two after a 5-0 run before the visitors opened their lead back up to as much as 14 with 12:58 to play.  Up 45-43, the Cyclones used a 12-0 run to seemingly take control of the league contest.

A three from Cory Callejas ended the Centenary run, and after the teams traded buckets over the next two minutes, Marywood used a 9-0 run over three minutes capped by a pair of free throws from James Curley make it a 63-61 game.

The Pacers would then take their first lead since 2-0 off the opening whistle when Letthand personally orchestrated back-to-back buckets to put Marywood up 65-63.

Marywood was up 69-66 with 1:10 to go after a free throw from Letthand, but the Cyclones tied the game at 69-69 on a traditional three point play from Rashaan Spencer with 1:02 to play.

From there, a layup from Anthony Bailey and a block and pair of free throws from Zachary Duymich sealed the win for the visitors.

Letthand finished with 20 and was one shy of the game-high set by Centenary's Spencer (21 points).  Letthand now stands just 12 points away from 1,000 for his career after leading four Pacers in double figures.  Cory Callejas and Curley each had 11 while Tip Swartz added 10 for the Pacers.  

Paul Jones was the only other Cyclone in double digits, but the visitors held a commanding 41-22 lead in rebounds, grabbing 27 defensive boards while limiting Marywood to just three offensive boards.

Marywood returns to action Saturday at the back end of a CSAC doubleheader with the women's squad.  Marywood will host Immaculata on Hall of Fame day, with the women tipping at 1:00 pm and the men at approximately 3:00 pm.
