Cabrini Gets the Best of Pacers to End Winning Streak

Radnor, PA - The nine-game Marywood University winning streak came to a close Wednesday in a 65-50 defeat to Cabrini College in Colonial States Athletic Conference women's basketball action. The Pacers (13-7, 10-1 CSAC) remain in first place in the conference with a tiebreaker over Gwynedd Mercy University.

Gabrielle Giordano was the lone Pacer in double figures with 10 points. Alexa Gerchman scored nine points and provided three steals. Rory Jordan was the team's top rebounder with eight.

Courtney Murray moved into third on the all-time blocks with a pair of put-backs. Murray has 90 for her career and stands 11 shy of the school record.

Kate Skalski came off the bench to lead the Cavs with 14 points. Dana Peterson had 13 points, and Meghan Martin tacked on 11 points. Both Kristina Startare and Mo O'Connell grabbed 10 rebounds.

Cabrini (12-8, 9-2 CSAC) dominated off the glass with a 63-42 advantage in rebounds. Both teams missed more than two-third of their shots with the Cavs leading 31.2 percent to the Pacers' 29.5 percent.

Over the last seven minutes of the first quarter, Cabrini outscored Marywood by a 21-7 margin to take a double-digit lead into the first break. The Cavaliers started the second quarter by taking 12 of the first 14 points to extend the lead to as much as 24. Cabrini doubled the Pacers up 42-21 at half.

Marywood looks to shake off its cold shooting hands Saturday when it hosts Immaculata in the Insalaco Arena.
