Fort Pierce, FL – Delaware Valley University improved to 6-1 on the year with a pair of wins over Marywood University Thursday in Fort Pierce, Florida.  Marywood fell to 1-5 with the losses.

In the opener, Marywood trailed 2-0 until the third when James Goetz doubled to left center and moved to third on the throw which resulted in an error and Daniel Hull scoring for the Pacers.

Delaware Valley would extend their lead to 11-1 over the third and fourth innings highlighted by a seven run third where the Aggies scored seven runs on nine hits and an error.

Marywood got back on the board in the top of the sixth when Bill Chonka singled up the middle to score Vince Rebar and eventually scored on a wild pitch to make it 11-3. 
Moments later, the Pacers made it 11-4 on a RBI double from David Ortiz that scored Tommy Smith, but the Aggies added two more in the bottom of the sixth to extend their lead to 13-4.

Hull (0-2) took the loss after 3.2 innings pitched.  Nick DeCandia struck out two over 1.1 innings of scoreless relief work and Gregory Patuto closed the game for the Pacers on the mound, allowing two runs.

Offensively, Goetz, Rebar, Smith and Ortiz all picked up doubles for the Pacers.

Jake Richards struck out eight to get the complete-game win for Delaware Valley.

In game two, the Aggies exploded for six first inning runs on six hits and an error and went on to a 10-5 win over the Pacers.

Down 8-0, Marywood got on the board in the bottom of the second when Michael Schlichtig singled through the right side to start the inning and would later score an unearned run on a throwing error.

After being down 10-1, Marywood made it 10-3 in the fourth on RBI singles from Goetz and Rebar.  Rebar would then bring in two more runs with a double to right center in the bottom of the sixth to make it a 10-5 ballgame. 

Rebar finished the second game 3-for-4 with three runs batted in. Goetz was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Schlichtig was 3-for-4 as well. 

Delaware Valley threatened in the top of the seventh but Patuto stranded runners on second and third to end the Aggies' threat. 

Casey Reed suffered the loss on the mound for the Pacers. In 2/3 of an inning, Reed allowed five earned runs (six total) on five hits.  Jeff Hupfer went 2.1 innings and allowed four runs on four hits, while Patuto struck out three while allowing just one hit in four innings of scoreless relief to close the game.

Marywood closes out their spring break trip Friday a twinbill with Bethany (W.V.).  The first game will start at approximately 1:00 pm.
