Fort Pierce, FL - Justin Haddix broke a 10 year old record with 13 strikeouts in a seven inning game and James Goetz pitched a complete-game shutout as Marywood University ended their spring break trip on a positive note with 5-0 and 9-4 wins over Bethany (W.V.) Friday afternoon in Florida.

Haddix's 13 K's came in the 9-4 win where he allowed two earned runs to improve to 2-0 on the year.  The new mark breaks the previous best of 12 strikeouts in a seven inning game held by three Marywood alumni - Jeff Williams (vs. Anna Maria 3/5/2001); Luke Ryon (vs. Beaver - now Arcadia 4/7/2001) and Greg Cleary (vs. Gallaudet 2/25/2006).

Goetz (1-1) was strong in his own right in the 5-0 opening win, fanning seven, walking just one and allowing just one hit for the complete game win.

Zach Andress went 1-for-2 with a two-run triple for the Pacers while Mitch Clemons was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.

In the nightcap, Marywood had built a 5-0 lead through three and a half innings and but Bethany answered with two runs in the third and fourth to make it a 5-4 game.  Haddix would shut down Bethany the rest of the way to preserve his second win of the week.

Andress added another triple in the nightcap and was 2-for-4 with three RBI while Matt Staback was 3-for-4 with two runs batted in.

Marywood opens league play when they face CSAC foe Gwynedd Mercy University in Scranton at 3:00 pm.  The Pacers and Griffins will then complete their regular season series on Saturday March 19 with a doubleheader in Gwynedd Valley.
