Marywood Blanks Keystone to Open CSAC Slate

Scranton, PA - Marywood University opened the 2016 CSAC men's tennis slate with a 9-0 win over Keystone College Wednesday afternoon in Scranton. The win gives new Head Coach Lak Sphabmixay his first win as Pacers' mentor and lifts Marywood to 1-2 overall.  The Giants fall to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the league with the loss.

The Pacers opened the match with pair of 8-1 wins at #1 and #2 singles.  Alec Birdand and Amed AlOreif teamed in the top doubles flight to defeat Robert Azzarelli and Maleik Torres, while Dan Tintle and Brendan Brown won by the same score in the second doubles flight over John Masten and Dan Greenip.  Bryon Scholl and Zack Haney were 8-2 winners at #3 doubles to put the Pacers up 3-0 heading into singles action.

There, Bird downed Azzarelli 6-4, 6-2 in #1 singles action and AlOreif beat Maston 6-0, 6-0 at #2.  Tintle was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner at #3 singles as was Scholl at #5.  

Brown earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jordan Joyce at #4 singles while Haney closed out the Pacers' victory with a 6-4, 6-0 win over Ross Haberek at #6 singles.

Marywood returns to the courts April 1 when they host Immaculata University at 3:30 pm in Scranton.
