Green Terror Goal Dooms Men's Lacrosse in Final Seconds

Scranton, PA – McDaniel College scored a game-winning goal with 20 seconds remaining to top Marywood University 9-8 Saturday in non-conference men's lacrosse. The Pacers came back from a two-goal deficit with less than 11 minutes remaining before falling just before the final buzzer.
 
Both Matt Casto and Cody Bachman led the Pacers with two goals and an assist for three points. Rob Maini also provided two goals.
 
Austin Maylor (1g,1a) and Scott Slater (2a) each tacked on two points. Justin Einwechter and Riley Litman each had five ground balls. Einwechter had four caused turnovers.
 
Riley Litman went 9 of 19 from the faceoff circle.
 
Timothy McNichol scored three goals and an assist for the Green Terror. Patrick Huckenpoehle, Troy Becker, and Jason Lawrence each totaled two points.
 
McDaniel defender Will Kroppe totaled six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
 
The Green Terror more than doubled the Pacers in shots by a 47-22 margin. McDaniel also won the ground ball game by a 42-29 total.
 
Trailing 7-5, Maini halved the Pacers' deficit with a man-up goal via Bachman with 9:22 remaining in the game. Five minutes later, Casto evened the score at nine apiece with a tally from Slater.
 
After retaining possession under a minute, McDaniel's Sean Kaliszak forced a turnover off Stephen Deiner just outside the offensive line. Kaliszak took the ground ball and ran upfield for a fast break. He delivered it to Troy Becker, who fired it inside the right post for the game-winning goal.
 
The Pacers are winless through three games this season. They hope to change their luck Wednesday when it travels to Morrisville State College at 4:00 pm. Marywood concludes its spring break at Catholic University of American on Saturday.
