Reading, PA – The Marywood University women's lacrosse team dropped its third game to start the season in a 16-4 loss to Alvernia College on the road. The Pacers trailed 13-2 before doubling its scoring output in the last 15 minutes of the game.

Kylie Winton and Ashley Valway each scored two goals apiece to account for all of the Pacers' offensive production. Caitlin Watson had the team's lone assist and four draw controls.
Marywood's Lauren Smith made 12 saves in goal. Natalie Burke and Watson each caused a pair of turnovers.

Abby McCarthy led Alvernia (1-0) with five goals and an assist. Bailey Stover had five caused turnovers. Four players – Kaitlin Ensulo, Angel Adams, Julie Sutton and Tequila Donnelly – each totaled two goals apiece.

Colleen Reilly picked up the win for the Red and Gold with six saves.

Alvernia outshot Marywood by a 37-14 margin. The Red and Gold had the advantage in ground balls (32-13) and draw controls (14-8).

Marywood went down by two goals in the first five minutes when McCarthy netted a pair of unassisted tallies. Winton halved Alvernia's lead to one with a goal at the 16:29 mark. Just over a minute later, Sutton tacked one on to start a five-goal run over the next 13 minutes. Valway finished off the half with a score with 3:19 remaining.

Alvernia scored six-straight goals to begin the second half and institute the running clock.

Marywood packs its bags and heads to North Carolina to face Greensboro College Tuesday in a chance for its first win of the year.
