Fort Pierce, FL – Marywood University dropped two games to Geneva College Tuesday afternoon in Florida as the Pacers fell 6-3 in extra innings and 7-1. Geneva improved to 2-0 while Marywood stands at 1-3.
Geneva and Marywood exchanged the lead five times in Tuesday's opener, but Geneva ended up on top with a 6-3 win in eight innings over the Pacers.
An RBI single by Joe Galante brought home Vinny Howells to give Geneva the lead for good in the top of the 8th.
Tyler Pagaduan was a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Geneva in the opener. He singled in the seventh inning and doubled in the fifth and eighth innings.
Zach Ackerman kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight Marywood batters. Ackerman allowed no earned runs, five hits and three walks over eight innings.
Daniel Hull (0-1) took the loss in relief for Marywood after allowing four runs over two innings. Justin Perez struck out three and allowed two runs in 5.1 innings of work. Vince Rebar and Michael Schlichtig were both 2-for-4 while Tommy Smith picked up the Pacers' lone RBI.
Marywood jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Rebar singled to ignited Marywood offense. The Pacers then then tacked on more runs when Rebar scored on a fielder's choice.
In the nightcap, Geneva scored two runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Forest Beighley and an RBI single by Andy Santana. Beighley racked up two RBIs on two hits for Geneva.
Jeff Parker struck out nine hitters en route to the win. Parker allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over six innings.
Billy McAuliffe took the loss for Marywood after striking out four and allowing four runs over two innings. Matt Staback went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Pacers.
The Pacers will take on Delaware Valley University Thursday in a twinbill. Live stats will be available.
