Scranton, PA - Marywood University rallied for an extra inning win in the opener but visiting Immaculata University took the nightcap as the Pacers and Mighty Macs split a marathon doubleheader that lasted more than six hours Sunday afternoon in Scranton.

Marywood trailed 6-3 heading into their final at-bats before scoring three in the bottom of the seventh to tie it and one in the eighth to win it as the Pacers pulled out a 7-6 win.  Immaculata then won the nightcap, 7-2.

Marywood moves to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in the CSAC while the Mighty Macs, who took two of three from the Pacers, now stand at 16-11 (6-3 CSAC).

With Marywood trailing 6-3 to start the bottom of the seventh in the opener, Zach Andress singled to right center and moved to second on a single from Vince Rebar.  Matt Staback would then double to lef to score Andress and move Rebar to third.  Tommy Smith would then score Rebar to make it 6-5 and Michael Schlichtig would get an RBI groundout to tie the game up.

In the eighth, Andress walked to open the inning and moved to third on a double from Rebar.  After another walk that loaded the bases, Tommy Smith forced a bases loaded walk that brought Andress across the plate as the game winning run.

Casey Reed got the win after allowing two hits over two innings pitched, improving to 1-2 on the year.  Rebar finished the opener 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles.  Smith and Schlichtig each had two RBI.

Rebar picked up another double in the nightcap but Marywood could not control the Immaculata bats as the Pacers fell 7-2.  Up 2-1 through three, Marywood gave up one run in the fourth but the Mighty Macs plated four runs on four hits in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead.

The Mighty Macs would add two more insurance runs in the sixth.

Nick DeCandia (0-2) took the loss, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three over four innings of work.  James Goetz picked up a double and Daniel Hull and Smith each had an RBI.

Marywood returns to action next Friday when they open a three game series against Keystone in LaPlume with a 3:00 pm single game.
