Scranton, PA - Marywood University beat visiting Summit University of Pennsylvania 6-1 and 10-0 in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on a chilly Saturday afternoon at Pacers' Park in Scranton.  Marywood improved to 6-9 overall with the wins while the Defenders fell to 2-12-1.

Marywood took control with a two run first in the opener and limited the Defenders' chances as Daniel Hull evened his record on the mound at 1-1 with the complete-game win.  Hull allowed just two hits and struck out a career-high nine to get the win.

Vince Rebar and James Goetz each had two hits with Goetz collecting two triples.  Rebar was 2-for-2 with a homer and two runs scored while Goetz was 2-for-4.  Chase Jones had a double. Joseph Meehan was 1-for-3 and had two RBI.  Mitch Clemons and Alan Nieto each added triples for the Pacers.

In the second game, Marywood used a six-run sixth and completed three double plays, including one with the bases loaded, to down Summit 10-0.  Rebar completed his stellar day at the plate by going 3-for-4 in the nightcap with another homer and a triple and five RBI.

Hull and Goetz each had two hits in the nightcap while Meehan picked up a double.

Justin Perez (1-1) got the win, striking out four while picking up the complete-game shutout.

Marywood is back in action Tuesday when they host Elmira College at 3:30 pm.
