Immaculata, PA - Marywood University pulled off two key early season CSAC wins as the Pacers edged Immaculata Saturday afternoon in a conference doubleheader. The Pacers won the opener 4-3 and then won the nightcap 5-4 in eight innings.

Marywood is now 5-7 on the year and 2-0 in the league while the Mighy Macs fell to 3-15, 2-4 CSAC.

In the opener, Marywood got three big runs in the first inning of play as Alexa Scala tripled to open the game and then scored on a Brooke Labs RBI double.  Labs would come home when Stephanie Bagniewski homered.

Marywood picked up their much needed insurance run and went up 4-0 in the sixth when Kathleen Rossi scored on a Scala RBI single.

Immaculata would get two back in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the bottom of the seventh to make things interesting, but relief pitcher Amanda Bridgwood shut down the Mighty Mac bats to get the save.

Kirstie Alvarez (4-2) got the win, going 6.1 innings and striking out four.  Labs finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate while Scala was 2-for-3.

In the nightcap, Sarah Recanati singled home Alvarez in the top of the eighth to get the game-winning run across the plate as Marywood won, 5-4.

Marywood built a 3-0 lead through four and a half innings of play but Immaculata took a 4-3 lead after plating four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Pacers would force extra innings in their last at-bat as Labs singled home Scala to knot the game at 4-4.

Katie Siano was 2-for-3 while Scala, Alvarez and Recanati each had two hits with Scala had two RBI.

Bagniewski, Alvarez, Mallory Porada and Recanati all had doubles in the win.
