Scranton, PA - Justin Haddix struck out ten and did not allow a hit until the 10th inning of play but Marywood fell to Centenary College 3-0 in a 10-inning opening game Saturday. The Cyclones then won game two 4-3 to take the series sweep from Marywood.

Haddix was brilliant for Marywood but was equally matched by Cyclone starter Trey Hinkle who struck out 15 and allowed just four hits.  Centenary improved to 17-10 (7-5 CSAC) with the wins while Marywood fell to 9-17 (1-11 CSAC) with the losses.

Marywood managed four hits off Hinkle through the opening seven innings but could not touch the hurler in the three extra innings of play. Haddix did all he could to get Marywood the win but gave up a single to left to open the tenth.  From there, a routine groundout advanced the runner to second and Centenary would get the winning run across the plate with another single to left.

Marywood out-hit the Cyclones 4-2 in the pitcher's dual and got two hits from Vince Rebar.

In the nightcap, Centenary's center-fielder made a fantastic running catch at the warning track on a two-out, runner on second blast from Rebar that certainly would have tied the game, preserving a 4-3 Cyclone win.

The visitors built a two-run lead on unearned runs in the second inning and doubled their lead in the fourth before Marywood mounted a comeback to make it a one-run game.

James Goetz doubled for Marywood in the nightcap and was one of just three Pacers to get a hit in game two.

Between games, Marywood honored their seniors.

Marywood returns to action Sunday when they host Penn State Harrisburg at 1:00 pm.
